BLOOMINGDALE, GA – A 32-year-old woman driving a car died after a multi-vehicle chain-reaction wreck caused by the driver of a concrete truck Thursday.
WTOC said the collision happened before 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 80 and Highway 17. The four commercial vehicles and the woman were stopped at the traffic light. For reasons unclear, the driver of the concrete truck did not reduce their speed and then rear-ended the woman’s car. The impact pushed her vehicle forward and led to the multi-vehicle crash and her getting pinned between one of the commercial vehicles and the concrete truck.
Effingham County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim as 32-year-old Carly Holubik from Richmond Hill. Holubik was a teacher at South Effingham Middle School.
Deputies did not say if they cited the concrete truck driver or reported any criminal charges.
