U-turn attempt in Starks leads to deadly wreck with semi 

STARKS, LA – A 59-year-old motorcyclist lost his life after he tried to pursue a U-turn on LA 12 and collided with a 1999 Western Star big rig last Wednesday, March 26.

Louisiana State Police said the collision happened around 4 p.m. on the eastbound lanes. Prior to the crash, the biker had stopped on the shoulder before re-entering oncoming traffic. Despite wearing a helmet, the motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries at the scene. He has since been identified as Jürgen Sauerwein, from Münster, Germany.

The truck driver was spared from physical harm.

Troopers started an investigation and have not shared additional information at this time.
