Driver hospitalized following big rig wreck in Seminary

SEMINARY, MS – One driver was trapped inside their semi-truck, extricated, and then sent to a hospital after a crash with another big rig on Highway 49 South on Friday, Feb. 21.

WDAM said the events unraveled when one of the truck drivers crashed into a power pole and the other struck the downed power lines.

Seminary Volunteer Fire Department confirmed that the trucks did not collide with each other. Mississippi Highway Patrol said they had to close the northbound lanes. Crews temporarily divided the southbound directions, splitting it up into two lanes — north and south — and treating it as a no-pass zone.

Troopers launched an investigation and have not released other information at this time.
