Icy roads on Johnston Co. contribute to semi-wrecks

JOHNSTON COUNTY, NC – Icy road conditions were a contributing factor for two semi-truck collisions, as well as several other crashes that happened across Johnson County Wednesday.

WRAL News said in one truck collision, the driver of an XTR and tractor-trailer slid off I-70 West and crashed into a snowy ditch. The impact left some moderate damage to some railing beams.

The other big rig crash involved a yellow-colored tractor-trailer. The driver lost control of their vehicle, leading the truck to overturn on I-95 and spill several lumber beams across the road.

Crews had to temporarily shut down some lanes on I-95 to clear the rollover wreck before later reopening. Regarding the non-truck collisions, the initial news source said several cars, including a Tesla, were seen sliding around. One Subaru even crashed into a ditch.

Officials did not say if anyone was injured in the truck wrecks or the non-truck crashes.
