Big rig hits 3 pickup trucks in Monticello, claiming woman’s life

MONTICELLO, AR – A person driving an International semi-truck hit three parked pickup trucks, resulting in a 27-year-old woman’s death last Tuesday, Feb 4.

The big rig driver first hit a 2001 Ford F-150 on the U.S. 425 southbound shoulder, then a 1996 Toyota Tacoma, and a 2018 Chrysler 300, the Magnolia Reporter said.

Arkansas State Police said the driver of the Ford F-150 was in the process of parking when the large truck struck it. The Ford driver was spared from physical harm, while the Ford passenger, the 27-year-old woman, was left in serious condition. EMS crews rushed the 27-year-old woman to Drew-Baptist Hospital. There, she passed away. Authorities identified her as Lacey LeeAnn Reed Morgan, a Monticello local.

Tuesday’s weather conditions, which were clear and dry, do not appear to have been contributing factors. Police said an investigation is underway and do not have additional information available.
