IREDELL COUNTY, NC – Two people were hospitalized with major injuries following a multi-vehicle collision New Year’s Eve on Interstate 77 in Mooresville, reports WBTV.
The accident took place on the northbound lanes near mile marker 39 and was first reported at around 3:25 p.m. on December 31.
According to officials, a semi-truck crashed into nearly eight other vehicles, leaving a total of two people with serious injuries.
The exact cause of the wreck remains under investigation, but by about 5:30 p.m., part of the highway was closed and was expected to remain so for about an hour following.
No pending charges or citations have been confirmed.
