Young man killed in Greensboro chain reaction crash involving stopped truck

GREENSBORO, NC – A 22-year-old man from Virginia died last Saturday evening, December 28, following a multi-vehicle collision involving a truck in northeast Greensboro, reports WXII 12.

The fatal incident took place on a stretch of U.S. Route 29 near Lakeview Cemetery, at around 6:55 p.m.

According to Greensboro Police, the young man, a resident of Danville, Virginia, was driving a car that hit a truck, which was stopped due to a previous wreck. The impact sent the truck into an SUV, which then slammed into another car.

First responders rushed the 22-year-old driver of the first car to local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Officials said two other drivers sustained minor injuries but have since been sent home to recover.

An investigation is being handled by the Greensboro Police Department’s crash reconstruction unit.
