Driver escapes injury in big rig sideswipe crash in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC – A tractor-trailer driver managed to escape injuries after their truck sideswiped an I-140 concrete barrier and jackknifed Wednesday.

Crews had to shut down at least one lane to accommodate the scene clearance, WECT reports.

North Carolina State Highway Patrol started an investigation, stating that the driver was on their way to U.S. 421 and traveling on the overpass when the events unfolded. At this time, troopers have not been able to pinpoint the reason behind why the truck driver lost control of the truck.

New details will be provided as our newsroom learns more.
