Pickup truck hits semi in Palmetto, claiming driver’s life 

PALMETTO, FL – A driver of a pickup truck died upon colliding with the left side of a semi-truck Friday, the Bradenton Herald reports. 

The events unfolded when the big rig was trying to cross U.S. 41 South from eastbound Piney Point Road and was struck by the pickup truck driver going south on the highway. 

Florida Highway Patrol, who responded to the scene, said the pickup truck driver, a 48-year-old man, a Daytona Beach resident, perished at the collision site, while the big rig motorist, a 58-year-old man, a Lake Wales resident, was spared from injuries.
