WEST PALM BEACH, FL – One man is in critical condition, and another lost his life after their Isuzu box truck collided with an SUV Wednesday morning.
Details from WPTV show that the two men were driving west on East Summa Street when, for reasons unclear, they drifted into the northbound lanes of South Dixie Highway in the 7300th and crashed directly into a GMC Yukon SUV. Since the men did not wear seatbelts they were ejected from the truck as a result.
First responders rushed the two men to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where one passed away. West Palm Beach identified the victim as 24-year-old Gaspar Lopez Hernandez, an Indiantown resident, and confirmed the SUV driver was spared from physical harm and won’t be facing criminal charges.
Due to the severity of this wreck, officials closed the area for many hours and reopened it once the scene cleared. At this time, authorities have not announced the contributing factors behind this crash.
