Man dies after running stop sign, hitting semi in Vidalia

VIDALIA, GA – A 66-year-old man driving a Nissan Altima had gone past a stop sign and collided with a semi-truck, causing him to get trapped under it and claiming his life Saturday.

This collision happened before 2 p.m. at the junction of Georgia 15 and Lyons Center Road, according to WTOC. Early details showed that the semi truck driver, 36-year-old Justin Rodgers, was driving south on the highway and the car driver, Arthur Lee Sims, was traveling east on Lyons Center Road.

Rodgers saw that Sims was coming toward him, tried to press on the brakes, and entered the opposite lanes to avoid a crash. However, the collision took place, and Sims succumbed to deadly wounds. Despite the nature of this wreck, Rodgers was unharmed.
