BARTOW, FL – A semi-truck driver was making a U-turn on SR-60 East when he collided with a moving pickup truck, leading to the pickup truck driver’s death Tuesday.
This collision happened before 6 a.m., FOX 13 News reports. Prior to the crash, the semi-motorist was sleeping in his parked truck and received a call from someone he knew to drop his tanker filled with mineral spirits. He made the turn without seeing the pickup truck, and the pickup truck went under the tractor-trailer, trapping the driver, a 73-year-old man, who passed away at the scene.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office closed the road for four hours and then reopened the area.
The semi-motorist was unharmed in this wreck.
