Trash truck overturns in Tappahannock, claiming driver’s life

TAPPAHANNOCK, VA – A 33-year-old adult driving a 2005 Sterling garbage truck passed away when the truck overturned on Tidewater Trail last Tuesday.

According to RealRadio804.com, the driver, Da’ Jour J.W. Smith, from Middlesex, Virginia, for reasons unclear, had drifted off to the right side of Tidewater (reported before 8:30 a.m.) and then crashed into a ditch, which caused the rollover.

Virginia State Police pronounced Smith dead at the scene. Troopers launched an investigation but have not released additional information other than confirming that Smith did not wear a seatbelt while operating the truck.

Additional information will be provided should it become available.
