Car driver’s life claimed after hitting log truck in Emporia

EMPORIA, VA – A 76-year-old man operating a 2015 Ford Escape lost his life after hitting a log truck coming out of a gas station on Route 58 Thursday.

Virginia State Police told WRIC that the events happened before 10 a.m. when the driver of the log truck had stopped, thus leading to the crash between the two vehicles and debris to scatter on the floor, also showcasing a destroyed car’s front bumper, which came off.

The Ford driver, Donald Rogers from Franklin, succumbed to fatal wounds at the scene.

First responders did not say if Clifford Lynch, 39, from Roanoke Rapids, was injured.
