ARLINGTON, TN – A collision involving an 18-wheeler, fire truck engine, and ambulance left the tractor-trailer driver in critical condition last Friday.
Action News 5 said this crash happened around 1:30 a.m. on I-40 East near Airline Road.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, who was at the scene of an initial collision before this multi-auto wreck, said that the truck driver was sent to Regional One Health, while an occupant from the previous crash was taken to St. Francis-Bartlett for injuries deemed non-life-threatening.
Closures were enacted on the I-40 and lifted later. Amid the closures, the Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office redirected drivers to alternative routes.
The events leading up to this crash remain undisclosed.
