1 killed, 1 sent to hospital after car-semi crash in Boynton Beach

BOYNTON BEACH, FL – A semi-truck driver was hospitalized, and a Mercedes driver was killed after their vehicles collided and the car got trapped under the truck Tuesday.

This collision occurred before 11:30 a.m. on Florida’s Turnpike near Boynton Beach Boulevard, according to CBS 12

Florida Highway Patrol indicated in a preliminary report that the driver of the Mercedes was speeding on the inside paved shoulder of the Turnpike and failed to maintain control of their car when the semi-truck approached. As a result, the Mercedes car collided with the back of the truck and got wedged underneath.

The Mercedes driver died at the scene, and the truck driver was sent to Delray Medical Center.

Upon arrival, first responders closed all of the southbound lanes on the Turnpike so they could clear the scene and proceed with the investigation process.
