NEAR LUGOFF, SC – A driver of a 2010 Freightliner tractor-trailer rear-ended a 2019 International semi-truck on I-20 East, claiming the life of the second driver Monday.
This crash occurred around 6 p.m. along mile marker 94, according to The State. Preliminary details showed that the driver of the International semi-truck was reducing his speed in a construction zone when the driver behind him did not and ended up colliding with the back of his truck.
As a result, the driver of the international truck, 49-year-old Jaime Flores, from Manassas, Virginia, succumbed to fatal wounds.
The driver who rear-ended Flores was transported to Prisma Health Richland Hospital.
The South Carolina Department of Transportation said all lanes reopened around 3 a.m. Tuesday.
South Carolina Highway Patrol has not released additional information at this time.
