Auto-fire truck collision in Albany sends one to hospital

ALBANY, GA – First responders took one person to a hospital for evaluation after the driver of a Toyota struck a fire truck engine Monday afternoon.

This collision occurred at Gillionville Road and South Westover Boulevard, WALB reported.

Georgia State Patrol, who responded to the scene, said the driver of the fire truck was trying to get around traffic as they entered an intersection trying to turn right. At the same time, the driver of the truck entered on a green light and collided with the right side of the truck. Troopers also indicated that the driver of the truck did not completely stop before turning.

The fire truck did have sirens and lights on, but the Toyota driver said they did not hear those sounds or see the lights.

While one person was taken to a hospital as a precaution, first responders did not confirm if anyone was injured.

In addition, troopers did not say if the driver of the truck or car would be cited.
