1 injured, 1 life claimed in Birmingham semi, SUV crash 

BIRMINGHAM, AL – A semi-truck driver sustained minor wounds, and an SUV driver, a 45-year-old man, lost his life after both their vehicles collided on Thursday. 

Birmingham Police told WVTM13 that this collision happened at the Tallapoosa Street and I-59 interchange, along Birmingham Airport Authority. The impact of this collision led the SUV driver to succumb to fatal injuries at the scene. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Renardo Laron Fletcher. 

First responders treated the 18-wheeler driver at the scene for their wounds. 

Police launched an investigation but have not been able to provide additional information at this time.
