Major delays reported on I-75 in Gainesville after semi crash

GAINESVILLE, FL – After a driver of a semi-truck collided with two trailers on I-75, they then hit several trees, which led to significant traffic delays starting at around noon Thursday.

Action News Jax said that after the trailers and semi collided, one of the trailers’ chemical containers opened and spilled onto the road, creating a potentially hazardous situation that required the closures for clean-up.

The clean-up took several hours. At 4 p.m., crews were still not finished with the clean-up. During the closures, drivers in the area were asked to seek alternative routes.

The events leading up to this crash, including whether the driver was injured, remain unclear.
