HAINES CITY, FL – A driver of a garbage truck was injured after he hit two utility poles, leading the truck to overturn on its side Tuesday.
ABC Action News said this collision happened before 12 p.m. at the Polk City Road and Wilbar Lane intersection. Prior to striking the power poles, the driver, for reasons unclear, lost control of the truck. After the vehicle made contact with the power poles, downed power lines and a small grass fire resulted.
Fire crews were seen extinguishing the flames, and Florida Highway Patrol, who were also summoned to the scene, said the driver performed self-extrication.
While troopers did not comment on the specifics of the injuries he sustained, they did say they were minor and that he was sent to the hospital for treatment.
