Man, 25, fatally struck by trash truck in Summerfield

SUMMERFIELD, FL – A 25-year-old man from Ocala lost his life after his own trash truck hit him as he was loading garbage bags inside the back of the truck Tuesday.

This collision happened around 9 a.m. off U.S. 441 in a 55 and older community near Southwest 108th Terrace, according to Ocala StarBanner. Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that the 25-year-old man died at the scene. They also said the other person with him, a 63-year-old man who drove the truck (from a private recycling company), was unharmed. However, they didn’t specify if the 63-year-old man accidentally put the truck in reverse, which resulted in the collision, or specify other factors that contributed to this wreck.

New details will be provided should they become available.
