CHAPIN, SC – A driver of a tow truck slammed into a barrier wall on I-26 East, leading local and county officials to shut down all of the eastbound lanes in the area Saturday.
This collision happened near mile marker 89, WLTX revealed. The Newberry County County Sheriff’s Office, Little Mountain Fire Department, and Lexington County Fire Service all responded to the scene. In addition to the closures of the eastbound directions, authorities also shut down the westbound lane.
The scene cleared around 8:30 p.m., and the westbound and eastbound lanes were reopened, although delays still lingered.
Officials have not disclosed the events that led to this crash or said if anyone was injured.
