DOUGHERTY COUNTY, GA — A collision involving a tractor-trailer Wednesday evening near Albany has claimed the life of a 58-year-old man, according to WALB.
The accident happened at the intersection of Habersham Road and West Oakidge Drive, at around 6:30 p.m.
A preliminary investigation conducted by the Georgia State Patrol found that the victim, Hardrick Ford, was a passenger in a Chevy Malibu heading eastbound on Oakridge Drive. Shortly after its driver stopped at the intersection, they failed to yield to traffic while turning left, causing the Malibu to enter the path of a semi. Authorities said the semi collided with the passenger side door of the Malibu, which forced the Malibu to spin counterclockwise before arriving at an uncontrolled stop on Oakridge Drive’s south curb. The semi came to rest in the road’s right lane.
Officials have not released any information regarding potential charges against the driver of the Malibu, but the GSP continues to investigate.
