Driver sent to hospital after semi overturns on GA-365 ramp in Habersham County

HABERSHAM COUNTY, GA — A 32-year-old Statesboro man was injured last Monday, February 26 due to a rollover semi-truck collision on a Georgia State Highway 265 onramp in Habersham, according to accessWDUN.

The Georgia State Patrol said the accident unfolded south of Tommy Irvin Road at about 4:24 p.m.

Preliminary details show 32-year-old Tony L. Johnson was operating a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia southbound on GA-365 when, for reasons still unclear, he veered out of his lane and caused the truck to hit a guardrail, which sent the vehicle on its side.

At least part of the GA-365 southbound ramp was shut down during the emergency response.

First responders had Johnson taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Habersham for injuries considered minor.

Authorities indicated that crews enforced a road closure as the tractor and trailer were righted, and Johnson was charged with “driving too fast for conditions.”
