HAMILTON COUNTY, FL — A Georgia man lost his life Monday, February 6, following a pair of crashes involving a dump truck on Interstate 75 in White Springs, according to Lake City Reporter.
The fatal accident occurred on northbound I-75 approaching the White Springs exit, at the County Road 136 overpass, shortly before 9:00 p.m.
An early investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol indicates a 67-year-old man, of Hawkinville, Georgia, was driving a gray Ford Bronco northbound when it crashed into the rear of a dump truck’s lift box. Authorities said the truck’s lift box had hit and become stuck under the bridge just moments before.
First responders rushed the driver of the Bronco to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. His passenger, a 68-year-old woman, was also transported to the hospital for injuries considered non-life-threatening.
The driver of the dump truck, a 51-year-old Colorado resident, was not reported hurt.
