Man dies after truck vs car crash off AL-251 in Limestone County

LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL — A 73-year-old man has died following a two-vehicle wreck last Wednesday, January 24, near northeast Athens, according to News 19.

The accident happened at the intersection with Mooresville Road, shortly before 10:00 a.m.

An early investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency indicates the victim, Sammy H. Keyes, an Athens resident, was traveling in a car that was struck by a truck. The force of the crash send his car off the roadway and into a fence, critically injuring him.

First responders rushed Keyes to Huntsville Hospital where he was pronounced deceased on January 29.

An investigation by the ALEA remains underway.
