RANKIN COUNTY, MS — One person was hurt Friday morning due to a crash involving two tractor-trailers on Interstate 20 near Pelahatchie, according to WLBT.
The accident happened on the westbound lanes of I-20, in an area east of Brandon. It was first reported by WLBT at 6:54 a.m.
The events leading up to the accident have not been shared, but Rankin County Sheriff Brian Bailey indicated that one big rig came to rest on its side, and the other semi sustained damage to its front end. One of the two vehicles was transporting furniture and other home design products at the time.
While officials confirmed injuries to one person, the severity of the patient’s condition was not immediately clear.
As only one westbound lane remained open in the immediate aftermath, westbound traffic in the area was forced to divert off I-20 and onto the Pelahatchie exit and then Highway 80 as an alternate route.
