ALACHUA COUNTY, FL — A woman lost her life early Wednesday after her car was hit by a semi-truck on Interstate 75 near Alachua, reports WCJB.
The fatal accident took place on the northbound lanes of I-75, north of the city, some time after 2:00 a.m.
Details are limited, but the Florida Highway Patrol said a 29-year-old Jasper woman was behind the wheel of a car traveling northbound when the vehicle suddenly merged in front of a tractor-trailer. Moments later, the semi’s right-front collided with the car’s left side, killing the female driver.
The driver of the semi was uninjured in the crash.
Authorities had a section of the northbound interstate shut down during the emergency response.
