1 dead, 1 left injured after crash with log truck on SC-38 in Dillon County

DILLON COUNTY, SC — A Jeep rear-ended a stalled log truck Thursday night near Sellers, claiming one life and leaving another person injured, reports ABC15 News.

The fatal collision unfolded near Camp Road, in an area about two miles south of Latta.

South Carolina Highway Patrol officials said the log truck was stopped in the roadway when it was struck from the back by a 2020 Jeep SUV traveling eastbound.

First responders pronounced the passenger of the Jeep deceased at the scene. The victim’s identity has not been disclosed at this time.

The driver of the Jeep was transported to an area hospital. No information regarding their condition has been made available.

As of this writing, the SCHP has not said whether any charges are expected to be filed.
