Child flown to hospital after big rig crash on TN-93 in Greene County

GREENE COUNTY, TN — A crash involving a tractor-trailer Thursday morning in Greene County injured two people, including a 10-year-old, according to WJHL.

While WJHL did not provide the exact location of the wreck, a Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) report indicates it occurred on a southbound stretch of State Highway 93 at about 10:40 a.m.

Preliminary details show the semi-truck was traveling southbound when it veered out from its lane and collided with a GMC Terrain SUV heading northbound.

The impact brought both vehicles to a stop along the highway’s west side.

Officials said the driver of the SUV and their 10-year-old passenger were both hurt as a result of the crash. First responders had the child transported by airlift to UT Medical Center for injuries considered non-life-threatening.

No injuries to the driver and passenger of the big rig have been reported.

An investigation remains open and ongoing, but the THP confirmed that charges are pending.
