Woman dies after sedan vs fuel truck crash on I-65 near Fultondale

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — A 27-year-old Florence woman died last Friday, December 22, after her car rear-ended an 18-wheeler near Fultondale, reports WVTM13.

The collision took place on the northbound lanes of Interstate 65 at mile marker 266, near Ellard Road and Fivemile Creek. It was first reported by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) at 4:45 p.m.

According to Fultondale Fire and Rescue officials, Gayla Joy Ingle was driving northbound when her sedan struck the back of a fuel truck, which was parked on the shoulder of the interstate.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office indicated that Ingle was killed in the 18-wheeler crash.
