Driver dies after car vs tractor-trailer crash near Mobile

MOBILE COUNTY, AL — A crash involving a commercial vehicle Tuesday morning, December 12, near west Mobile claimed the life of a 49-year-old woman, reports NBC15 News.

The accident happened on an unspecified  stretch of Newman Road, about six miles west of city limits. It was first reported at around 7:15 a.m.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the victim, Kimberly A. Garcia, was driving a 2011 Toyota Corolla when it collided head-on with a 2014 Kenworth big rig.

First responders rushed Garcia to Mobile’s Providence Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased, confirmed officials.

No injuries to the driver of the semi, 48-year-old Anton Herbst, of Pensacola, Florida, were reported.

Troopers with the ALEA are handling an investigation, which remains ongoing.
