2 women killed in car vs log truck crash at Jones County intersection

JONES COUNTY, GA — Two women aged 59 and 75 died Tuesday evening after their sedan was struck by a log truck on Gray Highway in southwest Gray, reports 13WMAZ.

The collision occurred at the intersection with Homer Roberts Road, near the Dollar General store, at about 5:55 p.m.

According to the Jones County Sheriff’s Office, 59-year-old Rhonda Ramirez and 75-year-old Hazel Wallace were traveling in a blue Kia Rio. As the car began turning from Homer Roberts Road and onto the northbound highway toward Macon, it came into the path of a log truck, causing the crash.

Both women, identified as a mother-daughter pair from Wilcox County, died as a result of their injuries, confirmed officials.

Both northbound lanes were blocked in the immediate aftermath, but the JCSO moved the scene to the median shortly after. Later, one northbound lane and one southbound lane were blocked, leaving only a single lane open in both directions.

By 8:50 p.m., all travel lanes were reopened to traffic.
