OCONEE COUNTY, SC — One person died Wednesday morning after being struck by a dump truck while working inside a highway construction zone in Westminster, reports FOX Carolina.
The incident took place on an unspecified stretch of State Highway 11 at around 9:00 a.m.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the victim, 58-year-old Joe Milton Bridges, Jr., was working within a highway resurfacing zone. At one point, for reasons still unclear, they were hit by a reversing dump truck owned by their employer, King Asphalt.
No further information has been made available, but the SCHP and the South Carolina State Transport Police are handling an investigation.
