Maple syrup tanker overturns, closing part of I-75 near Jellico

CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN — Authorities responded to a rollover crash involving a maple syrup tanker truck Tuesday afternoon near Jellico, reports WATE.

The accident happened at mile marker 159, near the ramp to 5th Street, south of the Tennessee-Kentucky state line. It was first reported by WATE at 4:49 p.m.

Little information has been made available, but Tennessee Department of Transportation officials confirmed a tanker containing maple syrup caught fire after rolling onto its side.

The Campbell County Office of Emergency Management & Homeland Security indicated that all northbound and southbound lanes in the area were closed.

As of this writing, the condition of the driver remains undisclosed.
