OPELIA, AL – A woman was killed Monday morning when logs from a log truck toppled onto her vehicle near Opelika.
According to Opelika-Auburn News, the incident took place at about 10 a.m. on the Marvyn Parkway near the intersection with Old Columbus Road.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a pickup truck that had been hit by logs falling onto it.
The driver of the pickup truck, identified as 44-year-old Miriam Atteberry, was pronounced deceased at the scene, as confirmed by the Lee County Coroner.
The incident is currently being investigated by the OPD’s Traffic Homicide Investigation team.
