Truck driver suffers life-threatening injuries in Durham crash

ORANGE CO., NC – A truck driver was rushed to the hospital following a fiery crash between Durham and Chapel Hill early Tuesday.

According to a report by WTVD, a 2008 Freightliner semi-truck was traveling east on I-40 near Hillsborough Road when the driver lost control for unknown reasons. The truck veered off the roadway and into an embankment before catching fire.

The driver, 47-year-old Zachary Gesibe Oonge, of Texas, was transported to UNC-Hospital in Chapel Hill with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.
