POLK CO., FL – Several people were injured on Thursday a chain-reaction crash involving a semi-truck and 16 other vehicles, WFLA reports.
Sources say the collision occurred on US-27 near Chalet Suzanne Road at about 6:30 p.m. A Chrysler 200 merged in front of the trucker, who then lost control of their vehicle, veered across the median, and collided with a number of vehicles that were stopped in the southbound lanes of the roadway.
In total, 17 vehicles were involved in the crash. Three victims were airlifted from the scene, at least one of whom suffered life-threatening injuries.
The report is unclear on how many people suffered less serious injuries. However, the investigation is still unfolding.
