2-vehicle crash on US-21 in Fairfield Co. leaves 1 dead

FAIRFIELD CO., SC – A fatal collision between a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle in Fairfield County claimed one life on Wednesday night, according to The State.

Troopers say a tractor-trailer was making the left turn from US-21 to Old Route 21 at about 6:15 p.m. when it collided with a Nissan, forcing the Nissan off the roadway and into a tree.

The Nissan’s driver, whose identity has not been publicly disclosed by the Fairfield County Coroner’s Office, succumbed to their injuries after being transported to a local hospital. The truck’s driver, and sole occupant, was unhurt.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is actively investigating the incident, and as of now, no other injuries have been reported.
