DAVIE, FL – A multi-vehicle crash involving two semis along the interstate in southeastern Broward County injured two people Wednesday morning.
According to WSVN 7, the accident occurred on the westbound side of I-595 between Florida’s Turnpike and Davie Road in the city of Davie, about 13 miles southwest of Fort Lauderdale.
Police say that a tanker truck carrying 4,000 gallons of fuel overturned after rear-ending a van on the I-595. A westbound 18-wheeler then struck both the tanker truck and a passenger vehicle.
Medics transported both truck drivers to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
It’s unclear if anyone else sustained injuries in the crash.
Officials closed I-595 westbound while crews worked to clean up the fuel spill and clear the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
