SUMTER CO., FL – A two-vehicle collision involving an 18-wheeler claimed the life of a Tampa man Sunday morning in northwest Sumter County, Florida.
According to Aol, the crash occurred shortly after 5:15 a.m. near mile marker 321 on I-75 southbound in the area of Lake Panasoffkee. This is around an hour northeast of Tampa.
Police say that for unknown reasons, the driver of a southbound Honda Accord veered onto the shoulder of the interstate and rear-ended a disabled semi-truck.
The 19-year-old driver of the Accord died at the scene of the crash. His name has not yet been released to the public.
Medics transported the truck driver to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
