Semi strikes, seriously injures cyclist on 2nd Ave in NYC

NEW YORK, NY – Three weeks ago, a cyclist sustained serious injuries in a crash involving a semi-truck in Midtown Manhattan, reports Streetsblog NYC.

The collision occurred around 6:15 a.m. on Wednesday, January 14th, at the intersection of 2nd Avenue and East 57th Street, near Whole Foods and the Art and Design High School.

Police say that a southbound 18-wheeler struck a bicyclist while turning right onto East 57th Street.

Medics transported the female cyclist to an area hospital with critical injuries. She is expected to survive.

No charges have been announced thus far.

A full investigation is underway.
