WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, OH – A 24-year-old woman died Sunday in a wrong-way collision involving an 18-wheeler in Fayette County, reports WHIO 7.
The accident occurred shortly before 4:30 a.m. near mile marker 20 on US-62, or East Court Street, in Washington Court House, which is around 40 miles southwest of Columbus.
An initial investigation indicates that a southbound Hyundai Sonata entered the northbound side of the highway and crashed head-on into a northbound Kenworth semi-truck.
Medics transported the driver and passenger from the Hyundai to an area hospital with serious injuries. The passenger, since identified Livia Sheppard, succumbed to her injuries after transport.
The truck driver did not require hospitalization.
The investigation is ongoing.
