New Castle Co. bartender, driver arrested in fatal car vs. semi crash

NEW CASTLE, DE – Earlier this month, authorities arrested a New Castle County bartender in connection to fatal collision that happened late last year.

According to NBC 10 Philadelphia, the crash occurred around 1 a.m. on Saturday, November 15th, at the intersection of US-40, or the North Dupont Highway, and Christina Road in New Castle.

Police say that Ashley Wright was impaired when she lost control of her southbound Lexus ES 350 and rear-ended a Kenworth 18-wheeler.

The impact of the crash ejected and fatally injured a rear passenger from the Lexus.

Wright was arrested after being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at an area hospital.

On Wednesday, January 14th, police arrested 30-year-old Nia Jones for allegedly overserving Wright at the Emmaculate Sports Bar prior to the accident.

The investigation is ongoing.
