One Dead in California Semi-Truck Collision

BAKERSFIELD, CA –  A person was killed in a collision with a semi-truck on Highway 166 Monday afternoon, BakersfieldNow reports.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred in the westbound lanes of Highway 166 east of Soda Lake Road around 4:19 pm.

A Honda Civic with four occupants was traveling west when the driver pulled off onto the shoulder of the road to check the vehicle’s right-side tires. They were struck by a semi-truck as they attempted to get back inside the vehicle.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
