LAFAYETTE, IN – A man was killed when a semi-truck collided with the rear of his Audi on I-65 last Thursday night, the Lafayette Journal & Courier reports.
According to Indiana State Police, the accident occurred in the southbound lanes of I-65 between the Indiana 43 and Indiana 25 exits around 8 pm.
The Audi, driven by 34-year-old Mark Tompkins of Ohio, was reportedly slowed or stopped in the roadway when the semi-truck, driven by 45-year-old James Quakenbush of Tennessee, rear-ended it. Both vehicles went off the highway and down an embankment.
Tompkins was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger was rushed to a nearby hospital. Quakenbush suffered minor injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
