LAKE COUNTY, OH – Three people were hospitalized after a fiery crash on I-90 involving three semi-trucks Monday morning, WKYC reports.
The accident occurred in the eastbound lanes of I-90 near SR44 around 5:48 am. An International semi-truck was attempting to U-turn across the roadway when an eastbound Freightliner truck collided with it, then hit an unoccupied Peterbilt heavy wrecker tow truck that was parked on the side of the road. The International and the Freightliner both caught fire.
The International driver was taken to Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital and the Freightliner driver and a passenger were taken University Hospitals TriPoint Medical Center. Authorities reports that none of their injuries are life-threatening.
The accident is still under investigation. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors.
