Observer Local News<\/a> said the events unraveled before 1:45 p.m. when a driver of a box truck, who was initially on the interstate shoulder, tried to merge back onto the interstate and came into the path of an oncoming SUV.<\/p>\nThe SUV driver swerved toward the outside shoulder and rear-ended the box truck. The debris from this initial collision flew onto the road and crashed into a second SUV. The driver of the second SUV, an 86-year-old woman from Palm Coast, tried to swerve to avoid a crash. However, that proved to be inevitable. Despite the crash, she and the box truck driver, a 34-year-old man also from Palm Coast, were uninjured.<\/p>\n
The SUV passenger from the first SUV was the person to suffer fatal injuries. She was identified as a 23-year-old woman from Ramseur, North Carolina. Her passenger was identified as a 24-year-old man from Asheboro, North Carolina. The Asheboro man was left with minor injuries.<\/p>\n
The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the details behind the collision.<\/p>\n
