CAMERON, NC \u2013 A man driving a Toyota Camry died after colliding head-on with a trash truck after 12 p.m. Saturday, ABC11<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n

The man lost control of his Toyota while driving on NC 24. He veered off the road and then struck the trash truck head-on, which caused the car to catch on fire.<\/p>\n

A passerby was able to help the Toyota driver escape the burning vehicle, and another good samaritan, a nurse, conducted CPR on the man prior to first responders arriving.<\/p>\n

Despite the efforts of the female nurse and medics, the man suffered fatal injuries at the scene. He did not wear a seatbelt while operating his car.<\/p>\n

The truck was parked at the time of the head-on collision. It\u2019s unclear if the driver of the truck was inside their vehicle at the time of the crash or if they sustained any injuries as a result.<\/p>\n

North Carolina State Highway Patrol has launched an investigation and has not released other information at this time.<\/p>\n
